Did construction, fuck that shit. I'd only do it if I had nothing else, a lot of people are lazy as fuck on the construction sites too, so I wouldn't always call it "real work".
Honestly, lots of people are lazy everywhere. Few employees focus on work 8 hours a day anywhere simply because there's little incentive to do massively better until you hit management jobs or get your own company. Most people assume from the start they'll never make it there.

Haven't posted in a few days because been on the construction site with my uncle
brb dad trying to teach me a lesson because he thinks I'm taking my cushy office job for granted
brb sends me to my uncle's construction company
brb none of the tradies working for my uncle trust me because I'm the new guy
brb get stared down or ignored by the tradies
brb tradies all packed their lunches and get all rustled because I went out for lunch and returned with a latte
brb spend most of the time in the trailer instead of out in the field with the tradies
brb finally going back to my office on Monday having learned nothing except that white collar > blue collar
Coming from a blue collar, it sounds like your father is being a closed minded asshole. The only real lessons to take away here are that people sucks everywhere so you might as well deal with the kind you're used to, and that you shouldn't act like he does and judge jobs you don't like as inferior. Both kinds of jobs are needed in society, both require a different mindset, both are valid
