Our cops are all physically fit, they go through routine fitness training, like soldiers do, they aren't allowed to get fat on doughnuts like American cops.
If you run from police here, chances are they will catch you and tackle you or you will have a dog hanging off your arm.

The police get called to incidents (it's stange that most posts in here seem to think the cops just stumble upon crime?) if firearms are reported they send the armed offenders unit, who wear black head to toe and carry automatic weapons and full assault kit.
Basically if you use firearms in NZ you get special forces called on your ass and everyone ends up dead, so criminals generally avoid using firearms to continue living.
