That's weight as in "the importance of something", like saying that your argument lacks weight. Some words can mean two different things.

It is a force and can easily be demonstrated as such. Blindly pretending things like you are, without proof, as much more to do with faith. Maybe you're just confusing weight and mass.

By giving importance to something - you give it gravitas or weight - its not a force - its a concept.

Also science cannot agree on a definition of mass, go talk to a phd in astrophysics and ask him to define mass for you and sit back and listen to the word salad.

The definition of weight in physics demonstrates it is a force. As I said words can have two meanings. It this case, one used to describe a force and the other to describe the importance of something.

Using the same "thesaurus.com" idea you had, you can say that the word card has for synonym program and that program has for synonym chore, that chore has burden for synonym, that burden has deadweight for synonym and that deadweight has weight for synonyn;

ergo, card = weight .

Weight itself is not a force, a rock sitting on the ground has no force, pick the rock up and throw it - it now has force known as momentum.

My pointing out that worth and weight are direct synonyms is not the same as you doing the 6 degrees of separation trick with words.

Of course you want this thread closed, because you thought it would be easy to prove Globe Earth, and you're figuring out its just a dogmatic religious belief indoctrinated by the state into the minds of children well before they can critically think for themselves.

Also it's your choice to come here, nobody's forcing you.

The rock sitting on the ground does have force, that's what makes it hard for you to pick it up; a force that makes it stay on the ground. It's also affected by multiple lesser and negligible gravitational forces. Once again, you're so close to understanding... When you throw the rock, you apply a force that makes it travel a certain distance, but why does it come back on the ground quickly? Part of the answer is gravity, the other is wind resistance.

Worth and weight can be synonyms, it doesn't mean that the physics definition of weight means worth.

If words are direct synonyms - the words are very interchangeable.

A sitting rock has no force, it is hard to pick up because it has weight. The fact you have have faith there is a force does not make it so. If there was a constant force being applied to all objects like gravity, we would have an infinite source of power, so go ahead and waste your life thinking about how we can convert this force you believe in, go for it.

nice internet propagaga that suggests people and planes in Australia are upside down, and begs the question - Why do we need doctors/professionals anymore when you have the power to look stuff up on WebMd.com or Wikipedia?
Enjoy your life farming potatoes.

Energy = Force x Distance

The distance you can allow something to move is limited by the ground, so it's not an infinite source of power :(

They are synonyms to some extent, not when talking about weight in its physics definition.

The sitting rock has force, you said it yourself; weight. You can easily calculate the force applied by the air on the rock you've thrown. If that was the only force applied, you could be throwing rocks miles away. What's your explanation as to why the rock falls back to the ground so quickly?

Machines using earth's gravitational force already exist. Hydroelectric dams and tidal generators use gravity to generate electricity.

Because people like you can edit Wikipedia pages without knowing what they're talking about. But hey, it must be coincidence if all professionals understand gravity in a way that's different to your understanding.

I applaud you for still trying to educate these kids

That takes a lot of patience
