I just pm'ed one of the Asian staff members with "Harro" and he simply responded with "What's up" - so safe to say he see's it as a greeting with no ill intent

You are fine to use it as long as it's not being used in a way to intentionally spark a reaction, i see no issue

If you'd like some material to educate yourself on the topic since we depend on junior moderators to keep the site clear of racism as per Rule 1 I'd be happy to suggest, or provide materials about how terms like "herro" are received by the Asian community.
