Its actually just rehashed Beta theory - because everyone called the ball lover Eratosthenes "Beta" because his theory was clearly second best - so not many believed it until Copernicus published his book and Helios"Sun-worship"-centricity. and Kind Henry adopted it because he need his newly formed Church of England to be different then the Vatican and a reason to beat sailors on Crown ships for more profit. It's true what they say - if you beat/whip people enough, they'll pretty much agree to any BS.
