$3 million would put me into comfortable retirement.

$300-500k for a good waterfront house in my province, $2mil invested for living off interest long term, remaining amount to put into lifestyle and projects over the period of several years.

Remember though with inflation, living costs, taxes etc $3m in 20-30 years time will be like having 500k-1m today.
Also you have to account for rising health costs when you get older one day you wil have to pay for a caretaker also. These are hidden costs that you have to account for later in life.

I personally think of a figuire I can live on very comfortably today and then triple that.

Even 500k can go pretty far in my province and healthcare is free in Canada, find a chill part time job or do remote work with a 50-100k home in a small town or rural area and would be comfortable until retirement. It's pretty cheap to live in east coast Canada and still be in great neighborhoods, especially in the small cities and towns away from the main population hubs.

So if you need a hip replacement or pay for a caretaker when you are in a wheelchair etc is all free in Canada?

Also the world is changing especially with ai and shit or next world war 3 around the corner who knows maybe it won't be free. I would rather have a lot more knowing I can weather any unexpected surprises, than having just enough and finding out later in life with your pants down. Can always donate your money to charity if you feel like you have too much.

any necessary surgery for your health is covered

if ww3 starts, it's better to be away from the largest population hubs due to less resource competition and not being near any nuclear targets. :P

brain power&clever>>>>>money

Example:
My daughter said she wanted an espresso machine for her b-day.
I look on marketplace and see a lot of them are sold by women.
So then I go to local thrift store and buy a coach purse for $7.
I message everyone with one for sale that is female and offer to trade for the purse.
Expecting and receiving several no's, but I only need 1 yes.
I got it and traded.
Now she got the gift she wanted and costed me $7.
The end.
