Didn't read the thread but curious as to what tragedy happened to who?

When it comes to a number of our elderly neighbours, who are from all walks of life and some near and some live further away, I am at their call when they are in need of help.
Lately, it's been lawnmower cleaning and tune-ups as well as sharing meals when we have cooked far too much.
