I think to be alive is something so special, there are hardly words to describe it. From the single celled organism to the human mind and everything in between.

Inorganic to organic. Science cannot duplicate it. Science cannot explain it and when tenured scientists suggest the possibility of an intelligent design, they lose their tenurship and are fired, never to teach or publish again.

Carl Sagan said that our consciousness is the universe becoming aware of itself, and for a long time after I left home (I was raised French/Irish catholic) I believed that. But the older I got, the more I read, the more I saw, I began to think there might be some truths in the ancient texts. Science hidden in their depths.

The new testament in my humble opinion is based on the life of a real human named Jesus who did preach against the Rabbi's getting fat and rich in their temples. He preached peace, love and above all forgiveness. He was literally the first true hippy.

If one were to live their life the way Jesus suggested, I believe there would be alot less hurt in the world. However, I do not believe he claimed to be the son of God. I believe a few bright individuals figured out a way to make some money off of their dead rebellious leader and so was born the new religion if Christianity.

New testament aside, I think the ancient texts. The old testament, noone even knows how truly old it is, the ancient texts from the misty past of India, the so ancient teachings of the far east....in all of these texts there are wisdoms passed down through the ages in the form of stories and parables.

Dr. Jordan Peterson put together a series of lectures on YouTube attempting to unpack some of those stories. The Cain and Able story took him hours to deconstruct and squeeze all the meaning out of it and it is literally a few lines long.

A very close friend of mine left medical school and spent 5 years working at an aids/cancer hospice for the poorest of the poor. One of his jobs was to sit with patients. Offer them comfort. He told me he witnessed several dozen people pass away in front of his eyes as he sat with them. He said at the instant of death, everything about a person changes. Their skin color turns dull, eyes become dull. He said there is a light inside of us. The light of life. And when it goes, there is no mistaking its existence.

So while I absolutely believe there is more to us than mere chemicals, I am also very aware that religions, even if they start out honestly, are like every other enterprise run by human beings.....they are corrupt.

God being inside each of us is ultimately the most true statement.

Telling someone they need to accept Jesus Christ into their hearts or they will not go to heaven is not only naive, it is dangerous. Jesus just happens to be the newest kid on the block in terms of how many religions (coincidentally enough all having the same dates for holidays/festivals etc...) have come before him.

If you are truly searching for answers, study the oldest writings. Look for the stories that cross oceans and are universal in human history. There you will find true wisdom and golden rules to live by.

Cheers :)

Fear isn't a useful tool. Fear causes control with rebellion. Control via religion creates a somber willingness to remain controlled without willful rebellion.

God exists but, saying that your God is THE God is downright arrogant and extremely naive. We were made out of love TO love and live in harmonious communion with each other. We are all connected as one, experiencing each other and ourselves at the same time. Our EGOS is what destroys us but, at the same time binds us. You can't have one without the other or, each would not exist. There has to be evil to have good and vise versa.

God is in every single one of us. We are all pieces of God experiencing everything at once. Everything is conscious, even our universe. We are all connected as one.

That's exactly what a powerful psychedelic trip will teach you and, that's exactly where the religious texts come from, especially the concept of the Trinity. If you ever take a powerful psychedelic, that's what it will show you. You can say you know what the Trinity is but, you really don't. Once you actually EXPERIENCE the Trinity, or oneness, then you will truly understand.

I do not understand your logic at all, I actually doubt you have any logic whatsoever. Your claim is that The Bible was written by men, such a long time ago, so therefore it is incorrect.

You are essentially saying that, overtime, if something is written down as a historical event then it will suddenly become untrue if given enough time.

The Bible is a book of history, Moses wrote down the Law which you can read today. Luke the Doctor investigated the eyewitness accounts and you can read his findings in that book. Paul wrote down his Journey to Rome, which you can read in Acts 27. The best part is that this is all easily accessible.

A quick Google Search or picking up a Bible and start reading is so easy to do.

I simply cannot imagine living life from your blind and illogical point to view.

Do not read this book!! It is written in such a way as to hypnotize the reader using the dark arts!!!

Just kidding. I think the old testament is absolutely full of truths and wisdoms and laws by which we should govern ourselves.

I just don't like the wealth associated with religion. After all, we are only human, so the organization of every religion, even the holy Buddhists, becomes a power infrastructure.

I listen regularly to a Jewish man named Dennis Prager and he said once that there is proof the bible (old testament of course) is that the Jews paint themselves in an unflattering light...and they would never do that!! Lol. I thought it was interesting.

What is your take on the corruption of the Vatican and the peoples they've enslaved, the wars they've waged and the wealth they've stolen over the last 2 millennia?

Not just the Vatican of course, any major denomination of christianity has at its head vastly wealthy humans....

E/ another interesting thing Mr. Prager said, is that the interpretation of the holiest commandment

Thou shalt not take the lord name in vain

Is not interpreted correctly. What it actually means is thou shalt not make WAR, KILL, in the lords name.

Just wanted to add that piece.

You have to have a brain first to pick up on logic for one.

How do you know it was written as a historical event? For one, religions and God's exist into the thousands. Religions, specifically the christian religion, has cherry picked bits and pieces of other religions and made it into their own. You're really going to believe a book like that? Let alone, a book that's been re written over and over and over, over thousands of years? Are you that naive?

Do you also believe in bat-shit crazy stories/teachings in the bible such as:

Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material. Leviticus 19:19

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Ephesians 6:5 NLT

Just a few examples of fuckery. God loves you but, he wants you to fuck over and enslave your fellow man 😂

Let's also not forget about the bat-shit crazy stories of Jonah and the whale and Noah's ark. Absolute illogical horse shit.

Religious people are amongst the most naive group of people on Earth.

"A quick Google Search or picking up a Bible and start reading is so easy to do." It's sad that you don't even realize how incredibly DUMB and naive that sounds.

So just pick up any 'ol book that sounds convincing to you and read it and believe in it. That's your "logic", huh? Genius.

I guess you didn't read much then

Book of John 1:34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

John [the Baptist] came to testify that Jesus is indeed the Son Of God.
Furthermore (in the same chapter):

45 Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the One Moses in the Law and also the Prophets wrote about—Jesus from Nazareth, the son of Joseph [according to public record].” 46 Nathanael answered him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip replied, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Here is an Israelite indeed [a true descendant of Jacob], in whom there is no guile nor deceit nor duplicity!” 48 Nathanael said to Jesus, “How do You know [these things about] me?” Jesus answered, “Before Philip called you, when you were still under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered, “Rabbi (Teacher), You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.” 50 Jesus replied, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe [in Me]? You will see greater things than this.” 51 Then He said to him, “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man [the bridge between heaven and earth].”

So Nathanael also made the same testimony.

How do I know that the Bible was written as a historical event? I'll gladly answer that if you can answer how you know that "the christian religion, has cherry picked bits and pieces of other religions and made it into their own."

I've been down this road before, where you illogical people try to post one Bible Verse and use it out of context. You are not so different to the rest of your kind. Try reading the entire scripture instead of attempting to twist meaning. That's what illogical people like you try to do.

So the LORD God almighty has given us His Word. If we want to read His Word all we need to do is pick up The Bible and start reading it. Explain to me how that is dumb or naive. That to me sounds like it's great that we have easy access to His Word.

Why are you so naive?

Also my problem with you is that all the while this is going on you post 3 emoticons and not contribute to the discussion. Can't you see how somebody is openly criticizing Christianity and you're not taking this opportunity to speak up?
