I'll give you the same post I posted on Reddit a while ago. :)

I did change my mind about tripods meanwhile. For this budget, it's probably better to go with a tabletop telescope and a decent stepladder to place it on.

May I interest you on checking that one out?

I have seen that one being recommended really often.

For some reason I feel skeptical about the extendable length. I feel like it could be less stable. I've also heard that it can give issues with excessive stray light (due to the scope not being fully closed) and I'm worried about dust getting into the scope and making the mirror dirty.

Any reason why it's recommended by so many people?

Dobsonians are generally great starter scopes. For the price, they give you the best bang for your buck. The ability for the telescope to gather a lot of light through its design and its mirror. This one in particular just fits your price range. They're simple and easy to use.

I see. :) Thanks for the input. I am still a bit more inclined towards the other one I posted, but I still have a week or so to decide.

Another thing: have you been able to photograph Jupiter and Venus today, by any chance? I tried to look this morning (from Belgium) but there were too many clouds. :(

Really tough luck for the both of us. I have never consciously looked at any of the planets, so I'm pretty excited about this event. My binoculars are ready in my car this week, now I just need the right weather. B)

So I had the privilege of using a premium service called iTelescope.net, which allows you to remote control a high powered observatory Telescope from one of their locations across the world. New Mexico, California, Australia and Spain.
With over 3 million dollars in investments, this service is fantastic for people who are learning, or simply live in an area where viewing certain deep space objects is impossible.

I imaged Andromeda galaxy, I am quite new at post-processing, so bare with me lol. I do have more points to use so I intend on capturing other deep space objects. Working on getting more RBG shots to make it even better.
This was three 300 second exposure images, stacked.

Scope information: OTA: Takahashi FSQ-ED
Optical Design: Petzval Apochromat Astrograph
Aperture: 106mm (0.1 metre)
Focal Length: 530mm (0.53 metre)
F/Ratio: f/5.0
Guiding: External
Mount: Paramount PME
