Got some clear skies for a bit, took my camera outside to shoot star trails again.
This was about 115 photos taken at 30 seconds exposure per image. Cant wait till i get a wider lens.

Appreciate it, thanks :)

Hasn't been updated in a while, I finally have some time to continue my hobby. I was up camping this weekend and was able to photograph the milky way for the first time, it was such a clear dark night, no moon which made conditions perfect.

Got lucky with the shooting star

Fuck. Why can't I see a starry night like that. Are those pictures taken with a lens that replicates what you see with your naked eye or is that view due to the magnification of your telescope?

The above were taken in long exposure with a DSLR camera. No telescope for those ones.
Actually these were taken with no special lens, stock actually :) Of course the camera brings out more stars than we can see with the naked eye as well.
Also i was in a VERY dark area with almost zero light pollution.

How does light pollution work exactly? Does it block out the sky because of the lights or does it interfere with your eyes?
What sort of places should I look for to get a slight glimpse of a view like that?

Look for dark sky preserves, city lights are a no no. Even with the small town im in, 45 minutes away from the city, i cannot get a photo like this. I was about 5 hours north of the city, in basically a forest area, didnt even have cell phone service.
Where are you from?

The light particles coming from street lights, city lights etc, are shot up into the atmosphere creating a "glow". It makes dim objects hard to see, or impossible to see. Glare is another thing as well.

Yeah i feel you. I'm lucky to have had good weather while i was up camping. Clear nights are a dream come true for people who love the starry nights, especially when you're in a really dark area where you can truly appreciate it all.
