guys forgot strongest and best for last absynth pure absynth

i had an absinthe once, it wasnt as harsh as i thought itd be. then again, i got the low thujone one by mistake. maybe they other woulda been better. ive also tried making my own by steeping wormwood and other herbs in grain alcohol then diluting with vodka, but that didnt go over so well. was almost undrinkable. it definitely gave me a bit of a different buzz, though. one time it gave me very violent urges, although i was able to control them. i ended up pouring out most of it.

Ardbeg Uigedail
Glenlivet 18 Year

Are my picks from the list, i drink a lot of the ardbeg 10 year.

ah, ardbeg. good stuff. uigedail is one of my wifes favorites, if not her favorite. i like it also, but not quite as much as caol ila or lagavulin.

not a fan of scotch =\ i prefer irish whiskey

for the most part i find irish whiskies not as flavorful, which isnt too surprising as many are distilled multiple times. ive had a few decent ones, though. jameson is actually pretty decent.

i got some new stuff recently, at the bottom is an updated list of what i have now.  one of the best new purchases was Yamazaki 12 year.  this stuff can easily compete with some of the the better scotches - its GOOD.  smooth, bold, flavorful.  no wonder the 25 year version goes for $2000... the 18 year is more moderately priced at $160, ill have to try that out sometime.

i also struck gold again with another discontinued find.  man, i got good luck with that.  picked up two bottles of glenkinchie 10 year for $50 each.  the last one i got was $130.  ghereonna keep these for myself, rather than resell them like i did with the longmorn 15's i got a while back.  wish id kept one of em for myself...

You live where? In Scotland? That. Is. Awesome. Id love to visit someday. Especially as certain things just arent available in the US. Especially when it comes to minis, which as you see i collect. It's so hard to find single malt minis here for some reason although I've managed to amass a fair number.

I think ancnoc is a highland malt no? I have the 16 year bourbon barrel version. Its pretty good although not as good as oban.

im from oban it's self, i used to work less than a minute's walk from the distillery.

i buy directly from their gift shop sometimes..

edit: i also worked (architecturally) on a few other distilleries in the area.

Pretty cool. I'm guessing the gift shop has great prices?
