I just said I don't have beliefs about what happens when you die.

I think most likely they didn't face consequences in some ephemeral "afterlife", but since I've never experienced it, nobody has ever experienced it and come back under a rigorous environment I can't be totally sure.

At the very least I've never seen anything that indicates there's any kind of afterlife.

Then death for you would be the absolute worst thing that could ever happen. If you believe you cease to be then what is the point of your life? In 100 years time nobody will remember or speak your name.

Inevitably you will die one day.

Let's even go down that path for your belief that there is no afterlife. If this life is all you have then why would you be spending your limited time with me, someone whom you've never met? Why aren't you out there enjoying life and living it to the full?

If you do make it to your deathbed and reflect on life, would you honestly look on this moment as a crowning achievement? All that is accomplished here is your limited time has been wasted.

it's a really nice comment
he wants people to experience the death of their loved ones
so that his posts will have some value

Ahh, I see we have a 2020 random who already has 10% to their name. Do you really want to be a part of this? I for one doubt you will last very long.

You keep saying "I believe", but I don't believe it. I think it's the most likely result, but that doesn't mean I believe that's the result.

Whether what happens after death is nice doesn't factor into whether it's true. We could die and 100% of us go to hell and whether any of us liked it doesn't matter.

This conversation isn't a waste of time because it's time that would have been wasted regardless. I'm only popping on when I have a few minutes of nothing else to do. Yesterday I was preparing cells for an experiment (I work in a cancer research lab) and had a lot of 5-10 minute intervals where I had to wait. Right now I'm waiting on my bus.

I can see the uncertainty in your post. "We could die and 100% of us go to hell..."

The LORD God Almighty has given us the assurance that we will be with him in Heaven when we die. This is only accomplished through the LORD Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins.

2 Peter 1:20-21 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Whenever you open and read The Bible you are reading God's Word. What more assurance do you need?

Let's look at the history of how God communicated with people. In the early days, God would speak to people directly. Moses is a perfect example. God would also speak to the people through the Prophets. God would also speak to people in their Dreams.

Yet that all seemed to stop when Jesus came as God was speaking to us through his Son, Jesus. Not even 40 years after Jesus died and rose again, The Bible was written. Everything was recorded for us.

In this day and age, God speaks to us whenever we open His Word...The Bible. With that in mind, read 2 Peter 1:20-21 again.

I don't believe God spoke to Moses

I don't believe Jesus was God

None of what you have said assures me that the bible is God's word.

Also the bible as we know it wasn't written until 70+ years after Jesus. Your dates are overly generous lol

Man I would so love to go through Matthew 1:1-17 and Luke 3:21-38.

For this post let's look at Luke 1:1-4.

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Luke's Gospel is an eyewitness account. Luke went out and interviewed many, many people who told him all of the stories about Jesus. Somebody has gone out and done all of the hard work for you. All you need to do is open the book of Luke and read his orderly account.

What more do you need?
