Its not going away, its getting replaced.
People are creating their new "god" in the form of AI. We're worshiping it already and trying to improve it to the point in which it will have ultimate knowledge.
On top of that we're working on 2 way connection between human brain and AI according to Michio Kaku and Elon Musk. Neuralink would in theory be 1st step in that direction.
