its all a deflection. ive been concinved he believes one of 2 things in reality:

1. the earth is round, but after years of pushing flat earth in such a derogatory and inflammatory manner he's stuck. can't admit it. puts in less effort because his heart isnt in it, reposts the same photo, quote, etc. also his mistakes are more transparent.

2. a far more complicated mental delusion in which the earth appears round, but is in reality flat due to optical illusions. such as the "ship disappearing over the horizon" which is "explained" by "localized clouding of mist on the surface of the water". This is of course pure poppy cock, but if u believe there's a reason your eyes lie to you you dont need to trust your eyes.


#2 is where most flat earthers end up. a core tenant of their model is that most of it's "pillars" weren't created by observation or tests, they were deflections they landed on to skirt scrutiny from debunkers. Everything from the path of the sun/moon, size of the sun moon, map of the earth, etc. these are all numbers they got through the debunking process, example with made up numbers:

"so given the size of the sun and its distance from earth, it would have to move at 10x its speed to follow the path you've drawn" - Debunker

"well those numbers are wrong, lets calculate using my path as a given. see if we fudge the numbers the path works because the sun is actually 3.2671 times smaller which makes it move only 2x faster. which makes sense" - flat earther

so through this the FE kid has created a pillar of their model that they will not only believe but continue to build new premises on. its all a house of cards, anything u debunk it effects many more premises. this is why when u debunk something they dont acknowledge it, they know if they do the cards tumble and theyd need to start over.

I believe your #1 solution is the right one. If you take a look at card_sultan's posts in the past ~3 months, you'll see that he has never upheld a (pseudo-)scientific opinion for more than one single post. He says something, sees a counter argument, and goes straight for the "you're a dodger" and "you blindly believe what NASA tells you" speech without bothering to back his own claims any further.

I had never thought of it that way, but you're right. He is simply tired of arguing but is unable to admit (or even realize) that he's wrong.

hes a human version of the Bent Pyramid of Dahshur. He spent so much time building a base at the wrong angle due to bad math, now he's near the cap, has drastically down-tuned his angle (read:effort) in an attempt to just finish it off. Which in this case means play along as little as possible and make blatant mistakes in the hopes others move on and he can take up the next conspiracy (read: pyramid).
