He said he went to the moon because NASA would have killed him and his family if he didn't - he swore on oath to work for the state, not tell you the truth.
When he made the speech he was retired and even then he had to say something so cryptic that most people probably didnt even understood wtf he just said.
Pretty brilliant way to stick it to NASA without them even knowing it. Another reason i'm sure that the astronots are lying about going to the moon was that none of them would swear they did on a bible for 5000.oo to go to charity.

If you wanna see a bunch of liars, watch the apollo 11 press conference, its really obvious these guys never went to the moon, its also probably why you've never seen it.
