no my uncle used to burn ps1 games for my little cousins in like 1997 they had all the games
he put a mod chip in it to read them so they never worked on my ps1

Hm. I would think if it was real It would show up high on the google search list. I could be wrong, but honestly see no evidence that it was a thing. I know it's a bit different but when we used to burn DVDs, we didn't need a special DVD player or anything to use them. Just a different type of disc.

literally just watched a video about how Spyro 3 had anti piracy software implemented that detected the chip by telling the PS1 it was a certain version when it actually wasn't that version
the chip would say "yes correct version" to anything so thats how spyro 3 knew it was a modded console and wouldn't work

i remember back then it was very underground and my uncle worked at a tech shop so he was one of the few people who knew how to actually do it
he told me he could mod my ps1 but i wouldn't be able to play it for a few weeks and my real games wouldn't work on it so i never did it

Depends on the games you like.

Ps2 is better than xbox but xbox 360 beats Ps3 and all other next gen xbox consoles are better than PS3+
