idk why this is so a commone phrase

i've never heard about this until a year ago or something like that. and i've come across alot of platforms where user are chatting


touching grass does make not even the slightest sense in my language, i can not understand what should be insulting there.

could say "swim in water" too or "smell air"

Where are from? Is it from some eastern European Slavic country by chance? Or maybe German?

It just means to go outside instead of staying inside all day.

The expression means to get real or be practical. People who spend too much time online or in their head drift away from reality generating wacky ideas.
For example if you see someone talking about the benefits of communism or how there is a magical god up in the sky. Tell them to stop dreaming and go outside to reconnect with nature by touching grass.
