When you get a mic stand I highly suggest you get a boom stand. A standard straight-standing mic stand will not let you stand close enough to it when you're holding a guitar. Much easier with a boom.
And you prob already know but always loosen boom knobs to adjust. Stupid bandmates will just pull on it and weaken the joint, then it perpetually droops.
