Bible says give 10% of your income to church
Your bad Christmas guy xD
1) In the bible the stories before Jesus Christ are kinda obsolete and less important than newer ones, since Jesus came and re-ordered things. Priests says Jesus "explained and precised" things but when I read it its more like rewrite of the old rules.
2) Abraham was paying a tenth as tribute to Melchizedek, the king of Salem and a priest to God. So it was kind of tax to the king imo. In the past Israel king and priest were single person.
3) Of course the religion asks to be generous to others, but not necessarily to church. "Love your neighbour" - Jesus says. I generously help Ukrainians pay their artillery ammo bills, as this is what Jesus wants me to do IMO. The priest is fine, he is safe, there are plenty of old people who are will give him lot of money anyway, hoping to get some extra points to get to heaven.
