I know that picture is at least 10+ years old , and consumer had no access to hd pictues back then and i saw a video someone recently took of the supposed Iss and it was just a streak of light in the sky, it probably took about 2 seconds to pass through the entire sky and the perspective include the earth plane as well so it was a normal perspective , not zoomed in at all.
Look up long exposure photography, this method is used in both photography and in astronomy of the stars and planets.
It's sometimes used to show paths of objects moving for various things on the planet and in the sky, the video you describe seems to only be focusing on the path it took instead of capturing images of the satellite itself (they probably don't have the equipment for it).
Edit: It would be above you in the sky for long enough to get a good image, and if you get bad images then keep making pictures each time it passes above you.
