Good satellite + High resolution camera hooked up to it = HD video or pictures that you can zoom in on your computer to get a good look afterwards.
It would be in your sky long enough to easily get good shots of it though I suggest trying this more than one time, just use those ISS tracker websites to know when it's passing by at night and where to look. Don't use a shitty telescope as well, do your research on high quality ones to buy within your price range.
I know that picture is at least 10+ years old , and consumer had no access to hd pictues back then and i saw a video someone recently took of the supposed Iss and it was just a streak of light in the sky, it probably took about 2 seconds to pass through the entire sky and the perspective include the earth plane as well so it was a normal perspective , not zoomed in at all.
