My brain cells are at zero right now. Why can't I seem to understand this riddle?

“Divide 40 by half and add 30. What do you get?”

So I end up with 50. Simple logic. Half of 40 is 20 and add 30. So it's 50 guys...
Why is the answer given to me 110? How is it 110? I keep getting 50 and only 50.

for the record i looked it up. i dont do these things because i think they are trick questions (or semi trick?). 'half" here means 0.5
o.5 goes into 40 eighty times answer is 80

What in the world? LOL. I knew it was something silly like that. I enjoyed a good dinner and had a chance to clear my mind.
Riddles are always making me go OCD again because I'm a perfectionist that likes to overthink and complicate everything. LOL

I used to live at Taco Bell during my prime and don't care years. I've lost 41 pounds since my birthday in mid August. I miss Taco Bell.

its called the monte hall problem based on the old game show lets make a deal

the game is played
you have three doors/ curtains/choices pick one - door 1, door 2 or door 3
behind one door is grand prize.
behind other 2 doors is whats called a zonk (crap)
you pick a door
then the host shows you a zonk behind another door
then he asks you if you want to keep your first choice or switch to remaing door. what do you do? keep your first pick? or take the other remaining door?
it doesnt matter?
