Evidence suggests there was more to it than an accident. Sadly even though its obvious murder, courts can only persecute what is clear and concise, hence the manslaughter allegations.

go ahead and go for murder charges that dont fit the crime so you can watch another cop walk back on the street.

you fucking children are a big reason less cops get put in prison. pushing for murder1 when you could have had them behind bars for 10-20 years on manslaughter. aaaaaaand they walk.

What was she supposed to get in your clearly uneducated mind?

Not "everyone but cops". The only segment of the population that would be a slam-dunk murder conviction if they were the shooter in this case would be non-white males.

do you have any source on the sentencing guidelines for the specific crime in the specific jurisdiction?

how the hell could she "mistake" this guys apartment for her own?

when she walked in she should have known by the furniture that it wasn't her apartment.....

did this guy have the same couch as her? the same paint? the same TV? the same everything? like wtf man...

Well it is dallas so you are right, but she'll probably get the 2 year sentence

this is only info i know

Manslaughter in Texas is generally a felony of the second degree. This offense can result in a prison sentence from two to 20 years and/or fines up to $10,000

The details on this are somewhat in debate but here's the general idea:

*When she went to open the door to what she thought was her apartment, she noticed that the door was already unlocked. This put her on her guard. Upon entering, she found the lights were off and decided not to turn them on immediately. She instead tried to quietly sneak in and find whoever was "burglarizing" her apartment.

While I agree that it is somewhat suspicious (and there are other details I left out) I have to admit that it isn't entirely impossible for her to not recognize the apartment in the dark. Hell, I still have trouble finding a light switch in a house I spend every day in.
