I got a situation happening right now old ass neighbors with a brain damaged vegetable granddaughter that they take care of. Just smother her with a pillow or something. Maybe sounds heartless but I've had to make a similar decision once and it hurt real bad but was the right choice for everyone involved in the end.
Admittedly I do set the bar low, but the way I see if it I can't get up anymore nature has called me home.
And I don't believe in an afterlife but I do think that if there is one we surely must go there in the same mental state we left in terms of memories experiences etc. since all that stuff is tied to the brains physiology. Haven't found a rational reason for that not being the case, so I also intend to blow my brains out if I start developing dementia too. God it would suck to forever be a ghost with Alzheimers. Hedging my bets a bit excessively on that one though. Besides who wants to slowly feel all that they are as a person slip away?
