I'm glad you could come to the conclusion it was a "you" problem.

Not necessarily. You may have understood it perfectly but that doesn't mean everyone else has/would too. Yes i didnt understand because It still doesn't make sense. It would make sense if he would had said something such as iron chef, a thing that is actually relevant. Not just a random military rank.

What is a chef if not the supreme commander of his kitchen? Lots of chefs have compared running a kitchen/brigade with the military, so his post makes perfect sense.

just chiming in to agree; the post was clear as day and only a dimwit would find themselves confused

It makes perfect sense to everyone but you; but the problem isn’t you? Odd.

It’s also not a "random military rank", it’s a fictitious title to denote total control. It’s quite baffling how someone can’t understand this and sticks to this little detail in his post.

Like i said. Would make more sense to use a title that actually applies to the kitchen, not the military. Dude cooks by himself and calls himself a supreme commander? Cause he can cut veggies fast supposedly?

This didn't even need to turn into all that it is now. I was just trying to talk to tommy for a little clarification.

Congratulations, you have just discovered what a figure of speech is.

Seems to me like you were trying to attack or "gotcha" a non-native English speaker based on an expression he used, but that you didn’t understand.

How does the Supreme Commander cook? I feel like he would have people cook for him.

his statement made sense to me. i think he meant what he meant.

im noticing a pattern that you seem to take things quite literally.

excessively literalist, in the sense that you tend to prefer literal interpretations of words and utterances, even when speakers intend to be understood non-literally

Well that was not the case. You shouldn't have been able to see that from my very first comment.

Once again, you're wrong. I know he wasn't being literal and I don't take everything literally. Once again, since you seem to have missed it, it would have made more sense for him to have used a word that would actually be found in the kitchen.

Since the person I was originally talking to isn't responding or explaining, I'm done here. This is too much spam.

But I did, because it’s evident that’s what you were trying to do. Please don’t attack other users if you don’t understand what they’re saying, thank you :)
