Supreme Commander is in a sense a military rank, a high ranking officer. That has nothing to do with cooking/being a chef. It makes perfect sense. Maybe you meant to use another name?

Why are you so against clarification?

What is a chef if not the supreme commander of his kitchen? Lots of chefs have compared running a kitchen/brigade with the military, so his post makes perfect sense.

Maybe it made perfect sense to you but it didn't to me, hence why I said what I said to him and asked him for clarification.
