They operate on what's called a bank. Each slot that is connected to a bank only pulls from it's own bank.
Kinda like electronic pulltabs
So if there are people filling up a bank, and betting one denomination, they will have a greater chance at winning.
Each bank has to pay out on a time interval.
the amount can be paid out in a number of wins, or it can be paid out in one big win.
once the interval is up, a new amount is generated and a new timeframe.
So, slots can pay out big and go cold until the clock resets.
or they can pay out smaller amounts over the same period of time.
We're moving to progressive systems though too... meaning they share a chance at the big jackpot. and they all pull from the one pot, over the internet, instead of using one bank.
It's like the banks just got bigger, so they're more difficult to read.
