i got some new stuff recently, at the bottom is an updated list of what i have now.  one of the best new purchases was Yamazaki 12 year.  this stuff can easily compete with some of the the better scotches - its GOOD.  smooth, bold, flavorful.  no wonder the 25 year version goes for $2000... the 18 year is more moderately priced at $160, ill have to try that out sometime.

i also struck gold again with another discontinued find.  man, i got good luck with that.  picked up two bottles of glenkinchie 10 year for $50 each.  the last one i got was $130.  ghereonna keep these for myself, rather than resell them like i did with the longmorn 15's i got a while back.  wish id kept one of em for myself...

k, what do you drink?

i wouldnt call that really cheap scotch, though. ok, theres no $1000 bottles, but those are largely a waste, though. really cheap scotch would be cheap blends like grants and johnny walker. id call these moderately priced scotches.

Prefer single malt whiskeys, don't like the harshness of most Scotch.

Enjoy Glenfiddich and Glenlivet.

I'm a big beer drinker but in winter I usually switch to bourbon. Don't really spend much, enjoy Makers Mark and Slate among others.

Australian smooth dark rum too, Bundaberg Red.

ive been hearing good things about Amrut Fusion, so i got around to picking up a bottle recently. its pretty good, nice depth of flavor, but as yet is a bit sharp for me, i like whiskys that are a bit smoother.

which the bottle of lagavulin i just opened has in abundance. OMG so smooth, fantastic taste as always. this bottle, though is FAR smoother than any other bottle of lagavulin ive had. wow, i wish i could buy up the rest of this batch, so good. we went through about a quarter of the bottle in 2 days.
