picture a snow globe...the earth is a flat circular disc with a dome (upside down bowl) sitting on top
now in the centre of that disk is the Arctic or what u call North Pole.
the sun and moon are much smaller & closer and are inside the snow globe and traverse in a circular pattern above the flat disc (in the sky/atmosphere) going around and around every 24 hours in a east > west direction
as the sun traverses away from your position, the laws of perspective and convergence will show it getting lower (visually, not literally) and eventually it reaches the vanishing point which is what u call the horizon.
