the pic needs to be corrected, "you could look down the rails" is poorly worded....it should say something like "looking straight ahead at eye level towards the horizon..."

you do realize what the vanishing point is right? that is the limit of the human eye (approx. 3 miles).....if you grab some binoculars or telescope and look through it, you will see FURTHER and see past 3 miles.

now, please continue with your point...
