You can prove me wrong right here and now by giving a real reason for the conspiracy, or giving me real sources you are basing your opinion on.

So far when challenged you've either refused to give a source, or when the source is given it's everything you criticize other's sources for being.

So I'll just keep waiting. I love being proven wrong by people with good evidence and reasoning skills. It's why I became a scientist, because when somebody gives you a good reason to think you are wrong it opens up an avenue to improvement.

Behind the Curve was pretty fun on Netflix. They have the Flat Earthers on camera saying they could never admit they were wrong because they're in too deep, so it doesn't matter what experimental results they get they will never drop the flat earth theory. Even when their results perfectly match the expected results of a round earth they have to make shit up. Oh, your laser gyroscope measured exactly 15 degrees drift per hour, the exact value you would expect on a round earth? That just means heavenly energies are making it drift coincidentally at exactly 15 degrees per hour!

flat earth is finally to the point where they're explaining how conventional physics work on a flat earth, having started from "conventional physics dont work". its pure comedy.

When Kai first directed me to this thread after we lost our favourite character Taurean, I laughed and thought it was a joke. I had of course heard of flat earthers but did not think it was an actual thing. More of a parody.

So I started watching the videos that get posted, and quickly realized that there really is a community of people who think this wonderfully dynamic piece of cosmic dust we are flying through space upon is actually flat!! Lol. They are real!

I did what I do if I don't understand something. I ask questions. I realized however that the real scientists who publish their work, let's say for example a couple of famous ones DeGrasse Tyson and Sagan, Einstein himself, never even mention the possibility of our earth being flat. Only one reason for that ol chaps, because it isn't.

My question then centered around one thing and one thing only. What is the reason for this lie about what the shape of our planet is?

Being told I am ignorant and indoctrinated made me mad at first. I know right, getting mad on the interweb. But then I realized that this Chivas fellow is trying to beat the world record for number of posts in a troll thread and then I focused my anger inwards for allowing myself to be even remotely duped by this sham of a thread/theory.

My first conversations on here with flat earthers, which I held over PM so they hopefully wouldn't get defensive, I managed to get them to accept every assumption required (light goes in a straight line, the observations I'm describing can be repeated easily, etc. etc.) and finally when I walked them through why those assumptions with zero doubt lead to a round Earth they would either say I was being dishonest and trapping them, or literally that mathematics doesn't work that way. When I pointed out that in isolation they agreed with every single point I made, they couldn't do anything but claim I had trapped them and was lieing about things.

yup the trap card gets played as soon as they know they're wrong, and are in desperate need of some denial.

At Christmas I've tried to trap my nephew telling him the earth was flat. He laughed after 5 mins of little doubting. But eh he is only 8.
Chivas is 40+ and still cant figure out himself how deep he is indoctrinated. holy shit LOL
