Say a whole bunch (hundreds or even thousands) of people manage to get together in multiple ships and storm/travel to Antarctica and make it across the ice wall and reach the dome edge and film it and come back and expose it.
Then what? All that it proves is that the governments and space agencies lied to us. We still haven't answered the hard questions of what is this dome made of and who made it.

In fact "looking glass" is another word for mirror in the english language



So no. The word looking glass is not an "understanding" that the dome transparent since mirrors aren't
And since we do not see the reflection of the earth on the dome its more obvious the verse was figurative
