I believe the stars are inside the dome and a result of sonoluminescence and the proof for the Dome was that scientists found an "impenetrable barrier" (their words) at 12,000 miles up, sounds like a firmament to me.

The Stars should thus be closer and should appear larger there but they don't

the reason you can see further up than across is that when your looking across you're seeing the converging of 3d perspective (which has a limit) and through the haze of the atmosphere

At the Ice wall or Antarctica the stars are closer since the dome is closer

B. The Shape of the dome is not known - the picture is just an illustration yo get a general idea of the concept - not something to take your ruler out and do calculations
