in terms of how i liked them, id rand as follows:

1. lagavulin
2. balvenie
3. ardbeg
4. caol ila


dunno whats with the caol ila, but i havent been liking it as much lately. dunno whether its because the bottle isnt keeping well, tho, its getting towards the end. never had that problem with a bottle, tho.

Dads opening up a bottle of Chivas Regal Royal Salute in exactly 1 month for my wedding. I'm pretty excited.

Anyone big on tequila or gin here? Those are my favorite hards, but I haven't disliked any alcohol I've tasted.

congrats. i havent had chivas royal salute but the regular chivas is ok. the chivas century of maalts is fantastic, though, so if its anything like that itll be good.





not big on em, but theyre ok. i use most of my tequila for tequila-lime bbq chicken.

we had some more good stuff the other day to celebrate my wife finishing nursing school. chivas century of malts, yamazaki 12, glenkinchie 10, isle of jura superstition and glenlivet 18; i think in that order, although the glenlivet and jura may have been switched, i wasnt quite as focused by that point.

although previous tastings of the chivas would have ranked it #1 of these, this time it fell out third, as it hasnt kept as well. we're gonna have to get some of that stuff you spray in to displace the oxygen to preserve it, although for this bottle its already to late...
