make the slinky extend 1 inch not 4 on a table - why does it not return to shape?

debunked

Why does the dogs tail section spring along when the head is pulled?

is the tail even a spring?

hold a slinky in both hands by the ends - in like a U-shape

is it returning to its original shape - anyone who claims a slinky is a spring is a squirrel

Santara debunks Santara

https://www.dictionary.com/browse/spring

an elastic contrivance or body, as a strip or wire of steel coiled spirally, that recovers its shape after being compressed, bent, or stretched.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/spring

an elastic body or device that recovers its original shape when released after being distorted.

If it's still in a U shape, you haven't RELEASED IT.

begging the question is assuming what you are trying to prove

an example of begging the question - I assume there is gravity so to prove gravity i can just drop stuff

or

I assume the earths a ball so stuff obstructed by the horizon must be because that's the leading edge of the ball that I assume

wrong - you can still put in a u shape on a table

your hands have nothing to do with it, have you ever played with a slinky?

Its seems like youve never even seen one

the tails is a spring - in order to get the dog to walk like that - you need to pull it so far

i think what you dont get is that a spring is always a spring- a slinky is a thing that sometimes act like a spring but is not

I think its a toy from the Devil, (thats a joke btw)

orly. you're the one who said that flattening a spring makes it not a spring, and that a slinky is "turned into a spring". so, wat?

Quote (card_sultan @ Jun 26 2019 07:06pm)
The slinky is not the source of the work or force, the squirrel is. The reason it returns the force is because it has been turned into a spring

mmmmmmmmmmmmmhmm

who knew all it took was hanging something on a pole and adding a squirrel to make a spring out of a non-spring. i'll try it later with various items, jello, a #2 pencil, maybe even another squirrel.

oh and also a spring is always a spring.

That's a pretty terrible definition. Springs can also be straight, composed of plastic, and operate by being pulled, not just pressed.

^^^thats a pretty horrible attempt at definition, none of the factors define a spring
