a slinky doesn't return work?

let's do an experiment.

you're holding a slinky vertically in both hands. left hand on the top, right hand holding the bottom. you let go of the bottom with your right hand, but still hold the top with your left.

The slinky stretches out. does it:

A.) Fall down constantly and not spring back up at all
B.) fall down then spring back up partially
C.) Fall down then spring back up into space pulling you with it off to mars



if you answered B.) then you believe a slinky returns force, even force placed on it's tension by it's own weight. against gravity, or density, or w/e you think makes things fall, it reaches a negative peak then returns, bouncing up and down until it reaches equilibrium.
