Just bought myself some beef jerkey to snack on. Super tasty but expensive, so got me thinking about the perfect food for hiking.
Something that packs a lot of nutrients, protein, lightweight and lasts a long time.
I normally take a whole salami and bread to eat but recently I have been on YouTube and discovered this Native American snack called "Pemmican"
Basically it's dried meat like beef jerky that's been crushed and rolled in tallow sometimes with dried berries.
The tallow adds good fat and helps preserve the meat longer. At room temperature can last anywhere between 1-5 years
If someone wants to be a millionaire and has a passion for cooking could make pemmican snacks with different flavours and sell them at supermarkets or online.
That's a great survival food for hikers and any outdoor adventurers. Just need a dehydrator and a vacuum sealer.
