There's one problem with the convergence and perspective argument as per the Flat earth model you proposed :
The sun does not appear to get smaller as it appears to set below the horizon or moves further away from you out of your line of sight

if you try to move closer to the sun, ONLY your perspective changes, it will still appear to be approx 3 miles away (the limit of our vision) even though it may now be only 2800 miles away or how ever close u got to it.
