Everything was going great, then when he realized everything he had just agreed to showed the Earth couldn't be flat he disengaged and started making shit up to salvage his position.

My final response was something like "Yes, but we've already agreed the atmosphere doesn't curve light". No response for over 24 hours, but I'm basically done since he started being dishonest.

All you have done, is expose yourself to the fact that you have zero understanding of perspective and convergence.
You are being dishonest when you claim that you do understand perspective and convergence.

Nope. If light travels in a straight line then I'm right.

For your model of perspective to be correct requires light to bend, and you have given no reason why it would bend, not to mention why it would always bend in one direction instead of the other.

You flat earthers are just fundamentally dishonest.

Harder to see the light coming off of clouds that are further away.

How close is "local"? Because my mother can see illuminated clouds at the same time as I do even though we live over a hundred miles away from each other. I can't see her illuminated clouds, and she can't see mine, but somehow we both see illuminated clouds.

So you didn't even read my post. Because I answered on literally the first sentence.

The moon doesn't just illuminate clouds that are "local" to it, you just can't see the illumination of clouds that are further away because, duh, you are further away and the illumination is very dim.

I'm sorry you posted our chat and made yourself look like a fool, you do realize you blackmailed me by saying you wouldn't explain your idea unless i agreed to something right?

You should google what blackmail means

reap what you sew

I'm pretty successful, so I'd say I am.

I'm willing to follow ideas to their conclusions, you stop halfway when you know you will have to change your mind.

Fact is, you agreed that certain things are accurate, then made up excuses after I lead you to the fact that the Earth isn't flat on why they suddenly aren't.

This is pretty common from flat-earthers, something happens, until it's inconvenient, then that's not the way it happens all of a sudden.

Or i realized that you're not understanding a key part of what i'm trying to say so there was no point in carrying on the conversation.

So does light traveling through the atmosphere change direction in a non-random way? (in other words, not due to scattering which happens in all directions at the same time).

You don't even realize your contraindicating.. it's like trying to get through to a brick wall. You egg head humpty dumpty

Then he blocked me.

He knows he's trapped and refuses to engage. Hopefully I gave him enough cognitive dissonance that he can learn to think critically.
