Yes, the sun actually shrinks, but I can still tell you think the sky horizon and the land horizon meet at the same point - well they dont , the sky horizon is visually behind the land horizon (as in hidden) and especially over warm water, you need very clear atmospheric condition and to not have the horizon to be visually blocked by land or clouds to actually see this.
Unless you have the time to watch thousand and thousands of sunset/sunrises all over the world which albiet is a better option but rather expensive on, the only other option is to watch this "awful" (<-----irony) youtube video which clearly shows this to those who are econimically smart and if you actually watch it.
