I'm noticing more and more folks seem to be unwilling to admit they are wrong when confronted about it.

Does modern technology like cellphones and internet contribute towards this behavior?

Have you also experienced this more in the past few years?

I've noticed it from both sides politically and it seems everyone is an expert on something that they are talking about.

It be what it be. Social media made it worse.

-sometimes i'm too proud to admit i'm wrong
-sometimes i don't realize when i'm wrong or am too late with it
-sometimes it's better to keep denying especially when you know your opposite will only use it to demean you further once you decided to admit

I think social media has a lot to do with it too...but then again, maybe I am wrong...

Social media is just another form of cancer to society.

And in answer to your original question: because people have been raised to think only their opinion matters, whether it is reality or not. They are entitled, disrespectful, ignorant. Everything you don't want to be as a human being.
Going to have people disagree with me here, but I'd say it's a mixture of bad parenting, lack of life experience, and also the anonymity of the internet, where they can feed this already outrageous (and undeserving) ego, without physical punishment. People used to have to watch themselves, because if they stepped too far out of line someone would check them with their fist. Now people feel they can get away with whatever they want, and for some feeble minded cretins the idea of feeling 'big' on the internet is more appealing, rather than... say... going out and actually living a good, respectful, and decent life.

I think I got off-track, but oh well.

The ego is a very powerful part of the human mind. Some people can’t just let it go.

Ego is a hard think to break in yourself much less others.

Weak people seek revenge.
Strong people forgive
Intelligent people ignore.

That is a pretty good take on things.

This is especially true in the dating world. It seems like every woman thinks she is a 10, even if they are really a 1-3 or 5.
If you look at most women's profiles on dating sites, they have a long list of demands for the guy to meet--but almost never list anything they bring to the table.
There are going to be a lot of alone women as they age with a box of wine and 7 cats...

I think I got further off track than you did...lol
