With a divorce rate around 4-5% I wouldn't turn my nose up at it for something that can easily be emulated for the sake of money and security. Two parent households are more stable and better for children in the long run and that's important to consider when approaching the subject of marriage. People who choose their spouses have around a 40% chance of divorce. It's one thing to gamble with your own life but in that instance you could be gambling with children's lives as well.
