There is a Black Mirror episode that an AI, given enough time, resources, and if our brains are hackable, which I think that they are, would be able to do what you have shared as a worry. It's my favourite episode for what it captures as it may be something possible given that we do not know the brain all the well and what are its vulnerabilities.
