where i lived was considered a city due to population of over 50k but it was more like a town with a single highschool

Drove an hour to get to a "city" of 50k too.
1 trip maybe twice a month for groceries and to rent a video game from Blockbuster.

Lived in a city with almost a million in my early adult career path and couldn't stand it.
Moved back to my paradise of low pop and drive 2 hours to go to a city.
