Cicada killer holes need to be eradicated or they will keep spawning forever.
Cicada's are what they eat, cicadas are not in the holes...the killers are well~ technically there is cicadas in the holes but they're dead and their head is used as a depository for their eggs and then their brain is used as nutrients for their underlings.

there was tons of pine needles all over when we moved in i spent days cleaning them. killed all the grass from them being on the ground so long so its like sand back there. i tried to plant new grass but it alot of it died. thats when i noticed the holes thought termites at first but the holes were far to big. is lighting them on fire the only way to get rid of them ?

Not intentionally because slugs are slimy and you dont want that on your shoes.

Dirt piled up, almost looks like a mound of dirt?





Keeping your grass wet, thick helps but I haven't had any luck with that.
Effectively yes fire. I have dogs so no pestcides go into my yard.
I drop some gas in their hole, and stick a paper towlen in it.
Light the paper towel and eradicate anything living or semi living in the hole.

yeah they look exactly like the second picture but sooo many also have dogs so we dont do any pesticides. i havnt seen them as much cuz we recently got alot of rain maybe i should get a sprinkler

They only come out when cicadas are brooding, so if you don't hear any cicadas you wont have any.
I tend to find holes find right under a cicadas shed skin mold.
Like they grab them when they're molding and shove them down their holes.

Can try the sprinkler, but napalm is the only guarantee.

Cicada killers don't eat cicadas, they use their corpse as a container for their eggs.
They initially paralyze them, then have their way with them underground, the larvae use the dead cicada and a energy source.
I initially said they eat them I was wrong, though I do think they eat their heads off. As I've seen cicadas without heads around holes.
