Weight

10.24kg (22 lb, 9.2 oz)

The Weight of the S Works Epic 8 is 22 lbs and 9.2 ounces.

That would seem to be the biggest advantage of the S Works Epic 8

The S Works is also sold out on Specialized's Website so I'm not even sure if you can buy one right now.

Try anyway.

I bought an electric folding mountain bike for $500 a few years ago and is great for riding through the trails and hills around my area. I don't think I could spend more than $1000 on any type of bike without feeling like I wasted my money.

it depends, is it a crazy bike like an S Works Epic 8? the price tag is fucked but if the bike doesn't break for 15 years and you use the bike for 15 years I think it was worth it in a way, depends how active of a person you are I guess

Even if a $10,000 bike last 15 years, that's still $666 per year

carbon fiber frames have a 5-10 year life span. make sure you look into proper maintenance as upkeep for that type of frame is different.
