Well, this is specific to budgeting for food monthly. I think about how much I save/spend each month quite often because I am boring. So I just wanted to have some convos about it.
This seems much more normal. That's around 250 a person. Do you smart grocery shop for deals and cook meals for the whole family to save on costs and being efficient in cooking?
My place doesn't have a dishwasher, I'd need to redo the kitchen to fit it and I am only planning on being in this spot for like 2-4 years at max so I don't want to sink money into it.
This makes me not want to cook as much because I have to clean all my dishes by hand.
Yeah so I'm trying to make this as simple as I can because we've had to adjust etc to get it to where we are
So we rotate each week what staples (flour, seasonings, oil, etc etc) we need to stock up on to make meals and then we choose proteins to accommodate meals throughout the week
My kids are really into chicken and vegetables so we do a lot of that during the days when my husband's at work and then have a big family dinner in the evening when he gets home
It's really just about knowing what you will eat and if you don't mind reheating stuff you make yourself a pot of chili etc and just bowl it up and freeze it etc you can make that many meals for a reasonable price
I have zero advice for dishes as our dishwasher went out so I'm the dishwasher right now and agree it's a pain
But for reference we just don't eat out unless it's a special occasion really anymore or we are supporting a local business/benefit for a cause
