Self sufficient from a food perspective is great, off-grid, no thanks. I enjoy rural living, but always want a power connection. Solar comes with so many pains in the ass, battery banks are expensive etc.

What's stopping you from moving north and living out your self-sufficient lifestyle? Family?

Dont even have a family besides the one I was born with, basically only $$

As in you don't have enough money or you're making too good of money to consider moving.

People walk out of high school up here into six figures, given a staff house, etc.

Oh, US. Ah, cant help you. For some reason I thought you were in BC. I forgot.

Although Alaska looks fucking amazing and if I was in the US, Id live in Alaska for sure.

You should look for job postings in the little Hamlets in Alaska, or whatever they call them. Here they are called Hamlets or Community Governments.

Typically those spots pay excellent, pay all relocation expenses and provide you a free home. First year there you buy a skidoo, quad, etc. Second year maybe a boat. Its a beautiful way of life.

Key is to filter towns by population, go for ones under 3K people, more remote typically means more money and more benefits, but also means no rules, unlimited hunting, etc. Fly in only, those are where you make bigger bucks since people don't like that.

The whole world is a family. Even the trees in the forest aren't less than 50% of our genes. We're all related. Use your money to run small businesses, help your family out and maybe create a new one in the process. Maybe take an education in investing, and leadership. Start managing the family better.

Dang that's good advice. Maybe i'll jump on that one day. Been watching Bering sea gold a lot, it does look intriguing.

do doordash/uber eats for a few hours on the weekends. study trading a bit, trade some 0dtes on webull and see how far you can get

or, go to bovada and put in $100 or so and farm early playout blackjack with $5 bets. farm rummy sidebets with $1 while playing a hand every now and then. on the side, periodically watch live european roulette and put $1 on green a few times after 60 + spins of no zero. if none bite, go back to ep bj

can also go to bacarrat and play simple $5 bets on streaks of banker/player (or play the chop). once you to get $150, cash out the $50 to your btc wallet, then repeat the process. don't continue and try to get more $, start the process over at $100 and grind it. keep doing it until you a good amount of $ saved

tons of way to make some extra $ brother, good luck

Id live in Svalbard in a heartbeat. I am about that far north, but we don't have near that infrastructure or stores because our sea ice freezes solid 9 months of the year so we don't have shipping except that small window resulting in fly in only which really limits infrastructure development.

Svalbard looks interesting enough though. The island is not that big though and if you cant travel sea ice on skidoo it would limit your total travel range which would be unfortunate.

Some of the Hamlets in Greenland are also pretty neat.
