So parlare italiano.
So parlare un po' di italiano.

Why do I need to use di italiano?

coz in that sentence u must consider "italiano" as a name

well, i think it's just because you can't just "traslate" a sentence word by word, as Trabucco always does with Google Translator.

Different languages, different ways to build a sentence.


For example

Mi piacerebbe mangiare un po' di pasta. In english you wouldn't translate this with "I would like to eat SOME pasta". You would just say "I would like to eat pasta"

It's just an other language, we love randoms "di"s



exactly like German people love the randoms "da"s



we had a lot of fun, during german lessons, when our teacher said "mehr da". It sounds pretty much hilarious in Italy




anyway, keep in mind that the sentence "So parlare un po' italiano" perfectly makes sense. In the example you made, that "di" is not a must, you can just skip it
