Yesterday night , Hackers hitted Diablo3 too. Most of the online players lost their Items (Inventory and warehouse).
FIRST OF ALL AND MOST IMPORTANT , stay tuned on Battle.net forum to be informed about that problem.
Moreover ... DO NOT JOIN INTO PUBLIC SERVER UNTIL BLIZZARD INFORM YOU THAT IT IS SAFE.
Secondly , if you have lost your items , you should send a ticket to the battle.net service.
To Sum up, dont join public server and do not panic if you lost your items.
How that hacker works.
1: He adds you as a friend or He adds you automatic by using scripts.
2: In about 1min your warehouse and inventory will be empty.
3: He sells the items to Vendor to get Gold.
4: He search for the next victim.
A friend of my brother got hacked and then my brother record the other hacked players.
Soon the Real money Gold Trade will be back .
In my opinion... Blizzard should have wait more until release the game.
